Job Requirements
  • Certified Mechanic from an accredited school and/or a minimum of 2 years of experience as a heavy duty truck diesel mechanic or 3 years of experience as a heavy duty truck diesel mechanic.
  • Preferred ASE Certifications (taken and passed two of the following):
    • Preferably in the following categories: Diesel Engines, Drive Train, Brakes (T4), Suspension & Steering (T5), Electrical/Electronic Systems (T6), HVAC (T7) or Preventative Maintenance Inspection (T8).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of machines and tools, their design, uses, maintenance and repairs.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude. (i.e.: Must be able to certify as a brake inspector.)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong ability to adapt to a variety of situations
  • Exposure to windows based computer systems, preferred.
  • Technical reading aptitude (i.e. electronic service bulletins; truck repair manuals).
  • Currently hold or be able to successfully complete forklift certification training.
  • Ability to learn welding techniques. Basic welding skills desired.
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external customers, including Drivers and Operations.
  • Experience with diesel electronic control systems DDEC.
  • Must provide own basic hand tools.

The associate is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential responsibilities of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The associate is frequently exposed to extreme heat (above 90 degrees Fahrenheit). The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
